[Review] Anime: Koufuku Grafitti, Ero Way to Eat (?)

Story:

Koufuku Grafitti is adapted from manga with same title. The anime is produced by Shaft, the one that produced Monogatari Series and Nisekoi. So if you found similiar scene you won't surprised.

Koufuku Grafitti is an anime that centers around Machiko Ryou, a Junior Highschool girl who lives alone and learned cooking from her grandma. At first, she felt that her cooking are not delicious and she always eat alone in her apartment. She is an art preparation school student.

And then appears Morino Kirin, she is Ryou's sibling who lives far from Tokyo and she also wants to enter Art School in Tokyo. Kirin then went to Tokyo to enter the same preparation school as Ryo. With the help of their aunt, Ryo and Kirin met. And finally they are connected through Ryo's homemade food. After that Kirin always come to Ryo's apartment every Saturday for art preparation school and go home on Sunday. Soon after Ryo's friend from preparation school, Shiina join the gang. They made many different foods and getting friendlier each time.

Main Characters:

Machiko Ryo:

Ryo is the protagonist of the series and is a second-year middle school girl who lives by herself. Her parents live abroad due to their work, and she was brought up by her grandmother, who died a year before the story begins. Her wish is to pass the entrance examination of a high school specializing in art, and therefore she goes to an art cram school, where she gets to know Shina. As the story progresses, she enters her desired high school, where she becomes classmates with Kirin and Shiina. Ryo is a talented cook and is capable of cooking a wide range of dishes.

Morino Kirin:

Kirin is a girl who is the same age as Ryo and is her second cousin. She hopes to go to an art school in Tokyo, so she attends the same art cram school as Ryo every Sunday and stays at Ryō's house every Saturday the day before. She is shy and has a somewhat childish side, but is extremely polite and well-mannered. She is short, but contrary to her appearance, is a powerful woman and is a big eater. She has an unrivaled athletic ability among the characters in the series. She is bad at housework, but somewhat knowledgeable about cooking. She later attends the same high school as Shiina and Ryo and moves into Ryo's apartment to attend school. Kirin joins the basketball club in high school and is called "Kii" by her teammates. She expresses her thoughts on food dynamically. She does not like carrots.

Shiina:

Shiina is Ryo's friend from middle school. She is one of the students of the art prep school both Ryo and Kirin also attend and lives with an old family in the metropolitan area. She is physically fragile, but is a beautiful girl who is cool and has mysterious atmosphere. She meets Ryo because they are in the same class together, and she knows Kirin from flower viewing in the park. She is accepted to the same high school as Rin and Kirin. Thanks to her cooking skill, she builds up a circle of friends besides Kirin and Ryo.

My Review:

My first impression of this anime is: EROTIC! Ryo's way to eat is way too erotic for a junior high school girl. The food looks so delicious that I really want to eat real food.

Koufuku Grafitti is a nice anime if you love food and cute girls. Beside food, Shaft make those girls a little 'erotic' when they eat. The scene where they eat those delicious looking food are so dramatic and mouth watering. If you see in a glimpse, it might look like another ero anime. But actually there are no ero scenes inside, except those erotic eating scenes.

I believe this is still a safe anime to watch around people since there are no real ero scenes haha.

Another story of girls friendship and slice of life. Since cooking / food anime are so rare these days, Koufuku Grafitti is the one that I've been looking for since a few years ago. It would be great if there would be another cooking or food anime soon.

Well that's all for today's review. Hope it helps! ^^
