Have you ever heard the title or even played it?
I've reached the end of the game today and it was EPIC! Why is that?
I thought it was impossible at first. But after I understand the system, it was so fun. By the way I played the PSP version. If you love RPG game or fast paced game, I recommend you to play it.
GAMEPLAY
There are three types of game you can play in the beginning of the game:
- Hero 30: You play as the hero and you must defeat the boss in 30 seconds
- Evil Lord 30: You play as the evil lord and summoning monsters for 30 seconds
- Princess 30: You play as the princess who tries to cure her father's illness. She got 30 seconds curfew!
You must be confused, how can I defeat it in 30 seconds? Well, you don't have to finish it in exactly 30 seconds. You can ask the Time Goddess to rewind the time for you! But Time Goddess loves money so she will ask you to pay everytime you ask to rewind the time.
Leveling up is also super fast here, that's why it's possible to defeat the evil monsters in 30 seconds. By the way, your level will reset to level 1 in every chapter so if you ran out of time, you'll have to start over from level 1.
There are also equipment like armor and swords in each chapter, you can use them in the next chapter, but you can't use them on the previous chapter. There will be time slip said the Time Goddess.
Evil Lord 30 and Princess 30 is not as difficult as Hero 30. I won't explain them :)
After you cleared all those three, you will unlock another mode to play:
- Knight 30: As a knight, defend the sage for 30 seconds! (Unlocked after clearing the first 3 mode)
- Hero 300: Defeat the Ultimate Evil Lord in 300 seconds (Unlocked after clearing Knight 30)
- Hero 3: Save the world in 3 seconds! (Unlocked after clearing Hero 300)
Knight 30 is not that difficult. You have to defend the sage until the time reach zero, It's an era where Time Goddess no longer exist in the world.
Hero 300 is kinda hard since you have to finish around 5 stage in 300 seconds. The problem is time management because there is no Time Goddess to rewind the time. You can rest in castle or village if you play in normal mode. After hours of trying, I finally defeat it. The key is in leveling and time management. You'll understand after many lose.
If you think that Hero 300 is nightmare, you won't like Hero 3. THIS IS NIGHTMARE!!! It was soooo hard and I gave up playing it. It needs more than time management, it needs fast finger too! And it was so frustating. Think you can beat 'em?

The famous Youtuber - Pewdiepie also played this game in multiplayer mode. This is one of the reason why I play this game too haha.
SEQUEL
There are also another sequel titled "Yuusha 30 seconds" for PSP. Too bad it is Japan Only. But don't worry, they have it as "Half Minute Hero: The Second Coming" on Steam! You have to pay though. It is around $9 for a bundle of three series of the game. The link is here:
CONCLUSION
If you loves classic 8bit game, you'll love this game since this is so classic. Although the gameplays are kinda different each mode, you still have same time limit: 30 seconds. That is the thing that connects the whole game.
In my opinion, this game is great overall. You don't have to play for a long time for a chapter and the story plot is nice. In Hero 30 you will have a few paths to choose such as playing good or bad. But in the end you are a good hero and save the world from ending.
After finishing the game, you will feel addicted and want to play more. There are also humors inside and made me giggle couple times.
And so, I gave this game 8/10 rating because Hero 3 is impossible for me (for now) =3="
